Vanessa Faith (vanfaithmusic), is an independent Singaporean singer-songwriter, guitarist, ukulele player and keyboardist. She taught herself to play the guitar at the age of 14, and the piano at the age of 17. Her music features folk instrumentations like ukulele, acoustic guitar, soundscaping, organs, bass guitar, drum loops, percussion and heavy backing vocal harmonies.

 

 

Works:

Through 2008 to 2009, Faith spent time crafting original songs and eventually pulled enough resources and content for a debut EP. Vanessa took part in Singapore Noise Apprenticeship as a mentee under professionals in the local music industry in 2010 to record and produce her original song 'Good Things' and share her original songs on more established public platforms and showcases. In July 2012, Faith released her debut 6-track album, INNER VOICES (EP), through the co-production with Kevin Foo, Producer and Founder of Beep Studios and The Loft Studios. Single track 'Green-Eyed Monster' from INNER VOICES (EP) turned out to the first official song that landed Faith on local radio airplay and commercial snippets. 

 

 

New Release:

Vanessa's latest release is her second 6-track album, O ITS CHRISTMAS (EP). This self-produced EP is released on 16 December 2014, featuring original Christmas-themed composition, exhibiting her folk flair in her light-hearted, easy-listening style of music. From conceptualising each song to the self-recording in her makeshift home-studio, this EP features organic acoustic foundation with gritty style, a perfect quirky mood-booster for the Christmas season. 

 

 

Influences:

Outside of music, Vanessa is known for her philanthropic endeavors and activism for youth-related works. She also describes herself as a 'huge fan of every good music'. Her musical influence is diverse, having bands from folk to today's pop hits, and jazz greats to indie eccentrics. "Good music speaks to you in ways where words fail." she says.
